Is it me, or is Leonardo DiCaprio out to prove something? I think that ever since he became sooo famous, God help me, for a movie with a theme song by that gangly, awkward and annoying Celine Dion, he's beefing up on the manly-man roles. He's the same character in Gangs of New York, Blood Diamond, The Departed, and now in Body of Lies... all great movies where he plays a scrappy and street smart, nice/tough guy with lame facial hair who's willing to get his fingers smashed by a hammer without shedding a tear in order to save the day.
All that practice paid off... Leo kills it again, and he's paired with a heavier version of Russell Crowe who's also shrewed and convincing. The two play the master and puppet of the CIA with Leo in the streets over in the Middle East teaming with their Jordanian counterpart -- some Andy Garcia look-alike that practically steals the show -- to locate a terrorist network.
Ridley Scott directs, and it's explosive (some real good ones too). But I have to say, between this one, Syriana and the Bourne movies amongst others, I get a little lost in the web of these tangled international political thrillers. Maybe I should just stick to Jackass.
