Now dats some scary f*cking sh*t. These words came into my head many, many times while watching this Spanish-language film, titled The Orphanage (or El Oranato if you are fluent in salsa). I was on the edge of my seat and guessing what might happen next and was never right (which might be a broader issue of mine, but let's table that for the moment). The movie feels a bunch like The Others, and even looks as good, but probably cost a tenth of the budget to produce. There's no Jessica Alba, and no M. Night Shyamalan, and no bloody special effects. And it's not one of those super low-fi (a la Blair Witch) sort of films... it's a real movie (albeit the director's debut) featuring nobody's (who all put on exceptional performances) without expensive gore (that generally put on cheap thrills anyway), without the cameo or even the hot naked chick. But trust me... without them frills or them ho's, this is one incredible house of horror!
The beautiful estate happens to be the orphanage that the lead character (the mom) happened to grow up in. She purchased it as an adult with her husband and their young son -- not to be an orphanage though, rather, a place for them to live and serve as a facility for disabled children. Want to know the twist?... just watch the movie trailer and read on because...
FilmBender Movie Reviews can't impart how chilling this film is (and I need you to stick around a little longer and maybe cuddle with me because I'm still a little freaked out). And, no, I'm not going to give you any spoiler. But I will give you one surprise. There is one name, Producer Guillermo del Toro, behind this film (and also behind Blade 2, Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, the highly-anticipated The Hobbit, and the fiction novel debut, The Strain). Also, I think he's re-making it into an English-language film which will probably have loads more budget. WTF?!... that sounds as boring as ketchup... give me salsa!

Max, Midway is pretty much the final act of anti-ship carrier warfare, right? If you follow Keegan and Churchill, it's the critical turning point in the Pacfic war - there's a wonderfully readable description of Midway in Keegan's The Price of Admiralty.

Times and Roku is what thye ARE NOT doing by keeping old business models while inventing new ones. Sort of one hand not knowing what the other is doing. Roku rolls out new platforms but hasn't tackled the key question of selling more boxes. You need one for each TV. Why not discount multiple orders for people with more than one TV? Financial Times wants to make online access free or pay depending upon the frequency of use, but it continues to charge customers TWO fees if the customer subscribes to print AND wants an subscription online as well. Do the people in office A ever talk to the people in office B
