One day, back when I was in school, I was hanging out with three friends who's names will be kept confidential to protect their privacy... we had just finished partying (probably around 2:45p on a Sunday afternoon). I think we had just filled up on some tall ice waters and through the haze managed to turn on the TV to hear that familiar and comforting preamble logo animation and theme song for HBO. That jingle thingy, alone, seemed to celebrate our serendipitous timing. We smiled and high fived each other and would have probably been just fine with something totally wet like Three Men and a Baby, but luckily, Three O-Clock High came upon the screen and blew us away.
We'd never heard of the film... but it's of the same ilk as Ferris Beuller's Day Off and Better Off Dead. Filled with basically no-named actors (er, Casey Siemaszko) who knock it out of the park, this off-beat film has crazy, cartoon-like camera angles and sound effects that I bet helped inspire the even more exaggerated style in the TV series from the early 90's that was great, called Parker Lewis Can't Loose.
Anyway, Casey's nerdy character is fighting a bully after school in the parking lot. The pressure throughout the school day is about to crack him like a nut. The trippy little film seemed to crack us up like nuts. So... party on and be happy a bully doesn't want to kick you in the nuts.
FilmBender is Funny Movie Reviews, and this movie is quirky and funny... see for yourself in the clip.
