You know when there's a couple of movies out there that basically use the exact same gimmick and are ultimately both great movies but one gets released first and gets some traction for some other reason and becomes one of the most famous movies of it's time, and then their is the other movie. Aptly named, The Others, is a scary movie done very well that will creep you out and then f-ing freak you out.
After watching six movies in a row, and seeing the bender in this movie, you're likely to get the spins. You may even try puttin' one foot off the lazy boy and onto the floor to steady the ship. While you're there, you can adjust yourself very gently and think a bit about how that rabbit-tooth Nicole Kidman is kind of hot but not nearly as much so as back in the day of her awesome debut chiller, Dead Calm. Then you realize that she was holed up with that kook Tom Cruise for 10 years and you finally get sick enough and scared enough to cough your dinner up and into your drink.
Anyway, Nicole's great and the director totally delivers by serving up a cool story told very well and throwing in the token dense woods and the thick fog and some other stuff you'll like... he's most famous for the Spanish film with Penelope Cruz, called Open Your Eyes, that spawned the English copy cat, Vanilla Sky, starring none other than [dry heave], Tom Cruise.
